LSA is a systems engineering-based process that influences the design of complex systems and equipment to reduce support burdens (and therefore ownership cost), and defines a cost-effective concept for the support of those systems and equipment. For over 25 years, ALE has successfully applied the LSA methodologies of MIL-STD-1388-1A, tailored by ALE to the unique requirements of each program. Our unique approach to LSA applies a minimal amount of effort at the beginning of the program to define the critical support issues, then mitigate those issues when it is easiest to do so. This early understanding of critical issues also focuses follow-on analyses to get the greatest benefit for the effort.
As programs progress through their development cycle, the emphasis on LSA evolves from design influence to support concept definition. Systems and equipment are systematically analyzed to identify operation and maintenance tasks, procedures for accomplishing those tasks, and all the logistic support resources needed. Once the support concept and logistic resources are defined, ALE's supply support and provisioning services provide the details necessary to implement the solution.
